Christopher Springfield, MSOD   |   CEO/President

Mr. Springfield provides leadership for Cardinal Point Homeland Security Group, overseeing all aspects of company operations. Before starting CPHSG, he was the VP of Operations for a regionally- based company where he was responsible for more than 400 armed and unarmed security officers, covering four states and responsible for more than 300,000 service hours.

He is a former Deputy Chief of Police who oversaw three municipal police department divisions: Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Administrations. Over the past 30+ years in the public and private sectors, Chris has provided senior-level command leadership while managing the complexities of real-world field operations, overseeing the safe resolution of critical incidents such as, active shooters, barricaded suspects, high-risk warrant services and bomb threats. He has served as a SWAT team leader, Patrol Sergeant and Special County Detective. Chris developed comprehensive police tactics curriculum, training recruit and veteran police officers, police and military special ops teams and security personnel on topics to include; ground fighting, physical fitness, force protection techniques, critical incident management for supervisors, handgun and carbine close quarter combat, responding to high-risk incidents for SWAT/Patrol Officers, and other officer survival courses.

He is a United States Marine Corp. veteran and served in the USMC Security Forces. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and commendations throughout his career. As part of his own distinguished education, he holds a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania, graduate certificates in both Organizational Change Studies and Leadership, and was selected by his peers as the class president of Northwestern University’s Command and Staff Executive Leadership training class. He is an active member of International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).

William Rice, MA  |  Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Rice is a retired Lt. Colonel, serving 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. Most recently he was responsible for the training and education of more than 400 security officers spanning four states throughout PA, NJ, DE, and FL. During that time he tracked individual qualifications and certifications to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.

He developed and implemented annual training budgets, all while overseeing instructor development/certification across multiple disciplines to maintain capability of diverse security training requirements. He has consistently achieved exceptional and measurable results, leading teams of more than 250 in dynamic, fast-paced environments in both civilian and military capacities.

Mr. Rice brings a comprehensive background in Strategic Operations Planning and Team Leadership derived from conducting domestic and global operations in multiple countries, which include: Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Japan, Jordan, Iraq, Spain, Italy, and Norway. He has managed risk to protect people, assets, property, and equipment valued over $2M, while meeting the expectations of senior leadership.

He is the recipient of multiple awards for outstanding performance and professionalism while in the USMC. His career is supported by specialized technical military training and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership Studies in Higher Education. He is an active member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS).

John Gooley, MS, CPP, CFE  |  Chief Security Officer

Mr. Gooley is recognized as an expert in school security throughout the region. He is frequently requested to speak to parents, administrators and industry experts about school safety issues. He is responsible for the administration of all school security programs with Cardinal Point Homeland Security Group.

Since 2017 he has served as our School Police Officer (SPO) program coordinator, overseeing the successful implementation of school security programs in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Mr. Gooley is a retired police Sergeant with 30 years of experience and an expert in fraud investigation, personal and institutional protection, and crisis planning and management. Along the way he served as a Sergeant of Special Detectives with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, specializing in surveillance and plain-clothes drug interdiction. Mr. Gooley is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). He is an active member of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). He holds a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice specializing in Security Management from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) through the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Stuart J. Nachman, MBA  |  Director of Business Development

Mr. Nachman retains overall responsibility for engaging, presenting and contracting with prospects and clients in the protective, consultative, and integrated hardware/software-related security verticals and markets served by Cardinal Point Homeland Security Group. He leverages his twenty-five plus years of sales acumen, home market network and long-standing relationships to position Cardinal Point as a purpose-driven company, helping our clients secure their schools, communities, companies, and organizations to create safer, more secure environments.

Mr. Nachman's ability to quickly assess and remedy client needs and secure cost-effective solutions that make sense to all stakeholders are an asset for Cardinal Point clients.

He holds an MBA from Temple University and a BA in Finance from George Washington University.

Steven Beck  |  Senior Advisor, School Security Division

Steven Beck is a recognized regional expert in school security and a retired 40-year Lower Moreland Township Police Department lieutenant. His expertise includes being the Assistant Team Commander of the Eastern Montgomery County (Moreland Area) Special Weapons and Tactics Team. Additionally, he has years in emergency management, serving as a Deputy Coordinator at the municipal level. For the last 11 years Mr. Beck served as a Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Sworn Special Detective, overseeing the coordination of school safety initiatives. His list of accomplishments includes: the development of a county-wide School Safety Committee and coordinating the Montgomery County Bullying and Cyber-Bullying task force, and also establishing a partnership with the Montgomery County Intermediate unit to foster communication between the county’s education leadership and law enforcement, while creating school safety and security protocols at the district and school building level. He has provided hundreds of training sessions to thousands of school personnel, facilitated tabletop exercises and drills, completed numerous site safety and security assessments and developed planning and preparedness capabilities. He has been a member of the Southeast Pennsylvania Regional Taskforce Safe Schools sub-committee, and most recently served as a co-chairperson. Steve a certified instructor in multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools. He is expertly trained in Management of Critical Incidents for Higher Education, in Critical Decision Making for Complex Coordinated Attacks (Rescue Taskforce Approach) and a certified instructor in ALICE (Armed Intruder Response). Mr. Beck has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University, is a graduate of FBI National Academy (210th Session) and is a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He has been recognized for his work by the Montgomery County Advisory Council to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, the Montgomery County School Nurse Association, the Montgomery County District Attorney and the Montgomery County Commissionerst
